CONSERVATION/PARK MANAGEMENT 

MJP, with the support of the Ministry of Environment (MoE), has developed a conservation plan that includes recruiting, training and supporting a Conservation-Wildlife Enforcement Team (C-WET). The C-WET is a team made up of 30 Cambodian rangers that operate inside the park to help stop the illegal timber trade, land encroachment and wildlife poaching.

Wildlife Monitoring

MJP supported rangers collect wildlife data in two ways; field surveys and camera-trapping. At each observation or confiscation site (e.g if the wildlife data is related to a poaching incident), rangers mark the geographic location using a GPS unit and record the date, time, and type of sighting (i.e., visual, audio, footprint). Rangers also photo document the wildlife or wildlife ‘’sign’’ using digital cameras.
