EMPLOYMENT STATEMENT ( Urgent)
MJP is an international conservation and development organization with operations in northwest Cambodia, with a special focus on Samlout district, Battambang province. MJP is seeking to recruit qualified Cambodian national for its projects for one position of the Homestead Food Production .
The employee will mainly perform work in Samlout District and Battambang Province.
DUTIES:
- Manage school gardens in cooperation with teachers and students at MJP school target
- Provide technical support to Education Coordinator and team
- Develop and lead ongoing gardening lessons and activities for students and teachers
- Assist with the production of education, training and extension resource materials in Khmer language
- Assisting the Education Coordinator in event planning and implementation for large community garden celebrations
- Implement on-farm seasonal work plans
- Work with other program staff to ensure programs are implemented according to the veggie garden plans
REQUIREMENTS /QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of farm experience in diversified organic vegetable production, additional experience in fruit production a plus
- Experience working with rural public school students
- Experience and ease working with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic communities and their advocates, notably communities affected by poverty
- Passion for connecting people with healthy food and living
- Demonstrate knowledge of agronomy of upland crops, production methods and farming systems
- Ability to implement field experiments including data collection, recording and management.
- A person is good at communicating, documentation and training skills.
- Demonstrate command of English and Khmer languages.
- Experience working with youth in outdoor settings and willingness to work and stay for periods in remote area
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and take initiative
